Christ Lutheran Church hosts events of the Order of Saint Mary of
Jerusalem (Teutonic Order) of the House of Antioch and Swabia, an
organization whose roots go back more than 800 years.

This ancient Military-Hospitaller Order was started in the Holy Land at
the time of the Third Crusade, which was organized by Emperor
Frederick Barbarossa. After the Knights Templar and the Knights of
Saint John, the Teutonic Order became the third order of Christian
chivalry. It was founded on November 19, 1190 by the second son of
Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, Frederick, Duke of Swabia
(Hohenstaufen), to assist pilgrims and wounded German knights in
the Holy Land.

Today the order, whose
headquarters is in
Tuscany, Italy, is
present and active in
many countries,
including the U.S. It is
registered in Italy and the
U.K., and recognized by
the European Commission
and the United Nations.
Apart from standing up for
the Christian faith, it does
a lot of charitable work around the world, and thus continues the
ancient and noble goal of Christian knighthood: To help those who
cannot help themselves.

If you are interested in membership, please talk to
Bp. Bargmann,
who serves as the order's Grand Prior for the USA.
